implant dentures Benefits & Steps

Implant dentures have revolutionized the world of dentistry, offering a permanent and secure solution for individuals dealing with tooth loss. Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures provide stability and functionality that closely resemble natural teeth. In this blog, we will explore the benefits, procedure, and considerations associated with implant dentures

.

Benefits of Implant Dentures:

1. Enhanced Stability: Implant dentures are anchored to the jawbone through titanium implants, providing a stable foundation that eliminates the risk of slipping or shifting that is common with traditional dentures.

2.Improved Chewing Ability: With the firm support of implants, individuals can regain nearly the same biting force as natural teeth, allowing for a wider range of food choices without discomfort or limitations.

3. Preservation of Jawbone: Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone loss over time. This helps maintain facial structure and prevent the sunken appearance often associated with missing teeth.

The Steps to Get an Implant Denture:

1.Initial Consultation: The journey begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation with a dental professional. This involves assessing the patient's oral health, bone density, and overall suitability for implant dentures.  A CT Scan is often taken on this first visit.

2. Implant Placement: Titanium implants are surgically placed into the jawbone. Over time, these implants integrate with the bone through a process called osseointegration, creating a strong and durable foundation.

3. Abutment Placement: Once osseointegration is complete, abutments are attached to the implants. These serve as connectors between the implants and the denture.

4. Denture Design and Placement: A custom denture is designed to fit the patient's mouth precisely. This denture is then attached to the abutments, creating a secure and natural-looking restoration.

**In some cases patients are eligible for teeth in a day (or teeth in 24 hours) which is a hybriid denture or full set of teeth attached to implants within a day! This means teeth are removed, implants placed, and denture attached all within 1 day and no wait time for osseointegration.  This option will be review in consult.**

Considerations for Implant Dentures:

1.Cost: While implant dentures offer long-term benefits, they can initially be more expensive than traditional dentures. However, many patients find the investment worthwhile for the improved quality of life and oral health.  The most expensive option is teeth in a day hybrid.

2. Healing Time:  The osseointegration process typically takes a few months, and patients need to be patient during this healing period. However, the long-term benefits outweigh the temporary inconvenience. Teeth in a day avoids healing some of the healing time with teeth being delivered in one day.  However, soft diet and care are still required for optium outcomes.

3. Maintenance: Implant dentures require regular oral hygiene practices, including cleaning the denture and the surrounding gum area. Regular dental check-ups are also crucial to ensure the implants and denture remain in optimal condition.

Implant dentures represent a remarkable advancement in dental technology, providing a permanent and natural-looking solution for those facing tooth loss. With enhanced stability, improved chewing ability, and the preservation of jawbone, implant dentures offer a life-changing option for individuals seeking a confident and functional smile. If you're considering tooth replacement options, consulting with a qualified dental professional can help you determine if implant dentures are the right choice for you.
