TEETH WHITENING TYPES:

1. Pre Filled Whitening Trays: they are ready pre-filled to go trays that fit any smile. Its a great option for patients who have not tried whitening before and want to give it a try with little investment, test their sensitivity to whitening, or are looking quick and easy option. We use Opalescence Go for our pre filled whitening tray option.

2. Custom Whitening Trays: Custom trays are an upgrade from generic pre filled trays or whitening strips because it is a clear tray that is created in the exact shape of your teeth. This allows the gel to get in between the teeth much better.

This option is very simple: we will take a scan of your teeth while in our office and print custom made trays for you to pick up within a few hours - 1 business day.

3. In Office Whitening: This is the best option for dramatic results. The reason in office whitening works quicker and often has more dramatic changes is because your dental professional can block off your gums with a special material and then use stronger whitening gel on your teeth.

The strength of this whitening would burn the gums if used in the custom tray or pre filled tray option. In addition to blocking off the gums for protection a special light is used during each session to activate the whitening gel and break up stains and discoloration.

Sessions consist of 15 minute increments when gel is applied and amplifying light is placed over teeth to increase results. The gel is removed between lighting sessions and new gel is applied. Total time of sessions is about 45 minutes.

In our office we use Zoom Teeth Whitening. Reasons you’ll love Zoom Whitening:

  • Immediate results – With Zoom teeth whitening, you’ll have a brighter smile in just 45 minutes.
  • Long Lasting – You’ll experience less fade back with Zoom teeth whitening gel.
  • Safe – Zoom teeth whitening is safe and comfortable.
  • Performed by a Dental Professional – Zoom teeth whitening is performed by a dental professional so you know you’ll get the best results.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT TEETH WHITENING:

Can you Guarantee How White my teeth will get?

No, Results vary per patient due to a variety of reasons including: type of staining, length of time stain has been present, & hereditary reasons. Some people genetically have whiter teeth than others.

Is teeth sensitivity normal when I whiten my teeth?

Yes, Most people experience some form of sensitivity when whitening their teeth. It can range from barely noticeable to very uncomfortable. Sensitivity will lessen with time after the treatment and generally goes away within a few days.

Why do my teeth look uneven after whitening?

The outside of the teeth tend to whiten faster than the inside of the teeth. Also there may be some teeth that react to whitening treatment more than others. This can be for a variety of reasons including how much calcium is in your teeth. Generally the uneven spots and color directly after bleaching will even out over a few days to couple weeks.

Typically when patients are whitening before cosmetic work and want to match whiter shade of teeth to their new crowns or fillings we ask them to wait at least 2 weeks after whitening procedure. This allows teeth to adjust and adapt to a color you are likely to be able to maintain.

Will I need to whiten my teeth again after in office Zoom whitening?

Yes, regardless of they type of whitening you do you will notice the results fade over time as your teeth begin to stain. Staining occurs mostly from what we eat. Foods/Drinks such as coffee, tea, red sauces, curry, red wine, turmeric, and other foods that stain a white shirt will also stain your teeth over time. Smoking also stains teeth.

We recommend that patients get the custom trays to keep up with their whitening at home and we offer medical grade whiten gel with those trays.

An alternative option is to come in for the in office treatment as needed.

What can I do to keep my teeth whiter for longer?

After you have your teeth whitened at our dental office in Port St. Lucie, we recommend to stay away from staining drink and food for 2 days after your teeth whitening. Your teeth will be more porus after your treatment and can stain more easily within this window.

Secondly, use at home whitening in some form as your notice staining re occurring.
